Daily 5 Choice Cards

Update: Here is a more diverse set of daily 5 cards! Thanks for the idea, Emily!

I love reading everyone's comments! Someone suggested making those Daily 5 posters I blogged about here smaller so that each child gets a set to use as a way to choose their Daily 5 session on a pocket chart. Great idea, Cassie!

Update: Cassie, I LOVE the idea of having a teacher choice card! It was no problem at all to make. I made three different versions (different teacher clipart) so you have a choice! I hope you don't mind that I shortened "time with teacher" to "teacher time"!

UPDATE: Due to the size of this Teacher Time file, there is no preview available on Google Docs. When you click the "Download" button, it will bring you to a page where you will see the following. CLICK DOWNLOAD ANYWAY. Sorry for the confusion!!

  1. I love them, Judy! Thanks so much :) Ok, now am I getting too needy if I ask you to make a card that says "Time with Teacher" that's the card I put into different rounds for the kids before they choose so that they know that round they will be meeting with me for guided reading. If its too much touble I understand! Would you mind sharing the font type and where you got the graphics so that I can make one!

  5. I love these Daily 5 cards! Would it be possible to make a few with multicultural kids? In my school, white students are definitely a minority!

  6. Julie - The teacher time cards are a really big file for some reason so when you click the "download" link it's going to say "Sorry, we are unable to scan this file for viruses." Under that there will be a link that says "Download anyway" so click on it and that should do the trick. Let me know if you are still experiencing problems.

Emily - the clipart is from Scrappin Doodles (stick kids). Let me know if you see any you like and I can give it a try and swap out the pics!

  7. Could you try to change the word work label to the Black boy who is spelling "words" with the Scrabble looking tiles? (It's in the Writing Kids download.)

Could you also try to change the read to self girl to the Black girl who is reading the book? (In the Reading Kids download).

I REALLY appreciate you doing this!

    Thanks! Emily

  8. Hi Judy,

This is a different Emily. I am a K teacher implementing Daily 5 here in a few weeks when school starts. Would it be possible or too much to ask if you could please make a card for Computers? We have to let our kiddos use computers during Language Arts (Daily 5) and I would love to have a matching card. I would appreciate it more than I can say!

  10. Hi Judy! These are absolutely ADORABLE! My team and I do the daily 5 also, but like a previous poster we also have a computer time station incorporated. Would it be possible to get the tiny cards for computer in this cute format? I would SO appreciate it! Thank you for all that you do and share! :)

  15. Hey there :)

Is there any way that you could make a big poster for the "Teacher Time"?

    Thank you so much!

  16. Hello,

Your Daily 5 cards are AMAZING!!! You have extremely cute stuff on your blog! I was wondering if you might be able to change the "Work on Writing" card to "Write About Reading"? I still have a separate writer's workshop so during the Daily 5, I have students write about their books.

Thank you in advance for your time and creativity!!

  21. I absolutely love your site. I am in the process of creating a powerpoint to detail how to use the Daily 5 and if it's ok I would love to use your mini multi-cultural cards to share with other teachers within my power point.

  24. Hi Judy! I love your blog :)

I was wondering if you could possibly make me a "Teacher Time" sign that is a full page, preferably with the teacher standing by the desk. the cards are great, but I use a clothespin system... Your work is so cute!

    Thanks!
